Discover Poulithra

Poulithra is an idyllic village on the southern coast of Arcadia, harmoniously combining mountains and sea. This quiet coastal settlement lies about 8 km south of Leonidio and is an ideal destination for a relaxing holiday away from mass tourism.

Almost untouched by large-scale tourism, the village has preserved its authentic charm and living traditions. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Arcadia, the lush green slopes of the Parnon Mountains form the backdrop to the village, which gently slopes down towards the sea. Whitewashed houses decorated with flowers, impressive villas, and traditional stone houses typical of the Kynouria region, a small picturesque harbor, and a long beach with two tavernas define the character of Poulithra.

At the edge of the village lies the chapel of Agios Georgios, accessible either by boat or hiking trails. From there, visitors enjoy a stunning panoramic view over the village and the Aegean Sea. The long pebble beach with crystal-clear waters stretches from one bay to the next and invites visitors to swim and relax.

In antiquity, the settlement was known as Polichni. The remains of the ancient city’s acropolis can still be found on a hill next to the small harbor of today’s village. Above Poulithra, on Mount Vigla, lie the remains of a Byzantine fortress and an old castle.

The surrounding area is crossed by a network of historic hiking paths that once formed the region’s transportation routes. Many of these trails have been restored, marked, and mapped, allowing hikers to safely explore the region today. Discover these routes and experience the rich history, culture, and hidden natural beauty of this unique area.

Just about 250 meters from the sea lies the Nanita Stone House, situated on a gentle slope on the edge of the picturesque village of Poulithra.
